FAQ

Do you offer online lessons?

Yes! ANG Music Studios now offers a full range of online lessons via Zoom. We offer online lessons at all hours, so wherever you live, no matter the time zone, we can find a mutually agreeable time.

Our youngest students taking online lessons are four years old, and just like our older students, they are doing fabulously. While online lessons are different from in person lessons, they can be equally beneficial. We cater to the needs of each individual student to ensure that the learning environment is safe, fun, challenging, and rewarding, regardless of the medium (online or in person).

Can I afford lessons at ANG Music Studios?

YES!!! Everyone can afford lessons at ANG, because we NEVER turn anyone down due to financial hardships. This is one of the things that makes ANG Music Studios unique.

If you have a financial crisis, let us know at your next lesson and we will make your lessons affordable! Whether it’s a payment plan, a creative lesson package, or a special discount, if you are serious about taking lessons, we will always work with you to make your music lessons a reality!

What Are your Lesson prices and policies?

Lesson rates are based on Victorian Music Teachers Association recommended rates. See https://vmta.org.au/

Individual Trial Lessons: $45/half hour or $89/hour

Lesson packages: $180 for 4 half-hour lessons

                             $356 for 4 hour lessons

Small Group Trial Lessons: $57/half hour or $114/hour

Lesson packages: $228 for 4 half-hour lessons

                             $456 for 4 hour lessons

Therapy rate: $106/hour

We do house-calls within a reasonable distance (for a small additional fee), as well as teach from our home studio space in Ashwood, VIC.

Lesson packages must be purchased one week in advance of the first lesson of the package. At the time of purchase, we will schedule all of the lesson dates and times.

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy: Lessons may be rescheduled (within the dates of the scheduled lesson package) with a minimum of 48 hours advanced notice. Regardless of the reason, cancellations or missed lessons with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded and there will be no makeup. When you pay for a lesson package, you are reserving those time slots with a particular teacher in good faith. In deference to our teachers’ time, cancellations and missed lessons are non-refundable.
Each lesson can be rescheduled only one time (after receiving the lesson dates/times on the lesson package invoice). This means that if you reschedule a lesson and then cannot make it to the rescheduled time (for any reason), that lesson is forfeit and is non-refundable. In deference to our teachers’ time, after the trial lesson, lesson scheduling and rescheduling must be done exclusively during lesson time.
Lesson reschedules with more than 48 hours notice are dependent on the teacher and student's mutual availability, and are not guaranteed. If a mutually agreeable day/time cannot be found within the dates of the scheduled lesson package, the lesson is forfeit. Rescheduled lessons may be swapped to a different ANG Music Studios teacher, depending on availability.

Late Payment Policy: Payments are due one week in advance of the first lesson of the package. This reserves your lesson dates and times with your teacher and allows your teacher time to coordinate their schedule. Invoices are issued at least one week prior to the beginning of the lesson package to offer a full week of leeway for late payments. (If you do not receive your invoice on time, please notify your teacher immediately.) If your payment is late, but is still made prior to the day of the first lesson of the package, your teacher might need to reschedule some or all of the lessons in the package. In other words, depending on your availability, you may still get all your lessons in the package, but they might not be at your preferred day/time. If rescheduling is necessary and your preferred teacher is unavailable, your lesson may be with a different teacher.
If payment has not been made by 9AM the morning of the day of the first lesson in the package, you forfeit that lesson (it is like a missed lesson: it will not be refunded and there will be no makeup). To continue lessons at ANG Studios, you will still need to pay for the full package. Once full payment has been made, your teacher will resume lessons, but they might not be at your preferred dates/times.

Sheet Music and Other Learning Resources Policy:

Your teacher will select music, etudes, technical, and other resources for you to work on that best match your musical aims and goals. The student must purchase these materials in a timely manner for lessons to proceed smoothly. In accordance with copyright laws and in respect of composers and publishers, ANG Music Studios does not photocopy music or music resources for students (except portions of such resources, where legal, so that the student can be sure to find and purchase the correct music/resource).

In-Studio Lesson Policies:

Students who choose to have lessons at our studio acknowledge that ANG Studios are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred on our premises. For legal purposes, we cannot allow students to remain on the premises after the conclusion of their lesson. Students under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times on our premises. Our restroom facilities are for teachers only.

What are your Covid-Safe and other health Policies and Procedures?

Keeping our students, teachers, and their families safe and healthy is our top priority. ANG Music Studios follows all government guidelines regarding Covid-19 safety as your health and safety is our top priority. All of our teachers are up to date on their Covid-19 vaccinations. Teachers will wear masks except where necessary to demonstrate particular instrumental or vocal techniques. Teachers will wash or sanitize hands prior to and at the conclusion of each lesson. Where possible, a window will be kept open during the lessons for proper ventilation, and an air purifier will be used in the lesson space. We recommend the use of air purifiers and open windows for housecall lessons as well.

Our students (and anyone accompanying them to lessons) are expected to follow all Covid-Safe guidelines per their teacher's instructions, including sanitizing hands, wearing a mask (where appropriate), and sanitizing their instrument and other musical equipment as instructed. To come to our home studio, students (and accompanying parents, family members, or caretakers) must be up to date on their Covid-19 vaccinations and must have a fitted mask with them. Your teacher may ask to see a vaccination certificate, and failure to present an up to date vaccination record will result in ending the lesson without a refund. Students who display any signs of illness should stay home and reschedule their lesson if possible. If the student is ill the day of the lesson (providing less than 48 hours’ notice), it counts as a non-refundable missed lesson. If for any reason the teacher feels that the student (or accompanying caretaker(s) or family members) is unwell or not following Covid-safe guidelines/procedures/instructions, the lesson will end immediately and there will not be a refund.

What Levels, Age groups, instruments, and subjects do you teach?

How long should my lesson be?

For adults and serious students, we recommend a full-hour lesson. This allows the student to maximize their potential.
For very young student beginners (approximately ages 8 and under), we recommend 30-minute lessons until the student feels ready to move to full-hour lessons.
Students using our in-studio clarinets must take full-hour lessons to allow time for instrument cleaning and care instructions.
We recommend speaking to your teacher in person to discuss further recommendations about lesson length.
